Privacy & COPPA
Scouting Badger is directed in part to children participating in Scouting programs. We obtain verifiable parental consent before creating learner accounts or collecting personal information from children under 13.
What we collect
- Parent name, email, and identity verification status
- Learner name, username (for login), and course activity — no learner email is required
- Optional learner contact email only if a parent provides one and chooses which notification categories may also go there (parent remains copied on all communications)
- Optional session recordings/transcripts when parents consent at enrollment
- Payment metadata via Stripe (we do not store full card numbers)
Parental rights
- Review or delete a child’s personal information by contacting support
- Refuse further collection (which may end platform access)
- Separate consent is required for non-integral disclosures (ads / AI training) — Scouting Badger does not sell child data or use it to train AI
Retention
Live session recordings and transcripts are retained for 90 days by default, then deleted. Audit logs of safety-relevant events may be kept longer as required for youth protection investigations.
